Our Story
Being an adult is tough, but being a kid in this competitive world is not easy either.
More than pushing my kid to be successful, I wanted him to learn what success really means and then go towards it. Instead of focusing on how many trophies he could have on his shelf, I wanted him to focus on learning how to handle failures. Instead of being bullied into thinking that pink is for girls, I wanted him to learn to stand up and say that liking pink is one’s own choice. Instead of following what others say and do, I wanted him to think for himself and know his uniqueness. I wanted to raise a kid who knows that it is ok to feel shy, it is completely fine to cry, that gratitude matters, that mistakes and failures are there to guide us, and mainly that kindness trumps all. I wanted him to build his character.
When I realized that schools focus on academics and not on the development of the social and emotional skills of a kid, I wanted to do something about it. I set out to make a guided journal that helps kids think, reflect and learn the values and character necessary for them to know to lead a happy life.
‘The Big Thinker Journal for Super Kids’ was originally written for my kid. It was a huge hit with him! Offering gratitude had become a daily ritual in our house thanks to the Gratitude journal which he used in the night time, but The Big Thinker Journal blew his mind! It continues to remain his all time favourite. I was overwhelmed to see the positive impact of the journal on his daily life and I knew immediately that I had to share the book with all the kids everywhere.
And so the The Big Thinker was born.
As for the guided journals for adults, I have been journaling for many years, and I have reaped many benefits from it. Freestyle journaling where I write about what happened in my day was one thing , but I have always felt that guided journaling to specific prompts was like therapy to me. As I reflect on my deep thoughts and feelings and put it out in writing, it created self-awareness which helped me know myself better. So, when I decided to make guided journals for adults, I wanted to take you all on a wonderful mindfulness journey where you can rediscover how beautiful you are and get to love yourselves more. I hope you will experience a cathartic experience that a lot of people have said they went through as they used our Mindfulness journals.
An added benefit was that when my kid sees me write in my journal, he likes to pick his journal to write beside me. It has easily become our daily ritual now. With every page you write, we are sure you will get to rediscover yourselves.
That is what The Big Thinker is all about.
